A mermaid on a blue oyster shell. Inside, a lustrous pearl sits on a mother-of-pearl-painted interior, and the metal clasp is a seahorse. A rare retired masterpiece.
Each Limoges piece is shaped from fine white porcelain, fired at high temperature and then painted entirely by hand by artisans in the Limoges region of France, so no two are ever exactly alike. Like the finest Limoges boxes, it opens on a hinged lid with a hand-set metal clasp. Artoria Limoges is celebrated for its highly detailed, finely sculpted boxes, including pieces created for Walt Disney, and is a favorite among serious collectors.
