Original authentic snuff boxes were shapes of squares, ovals,
rectangles. The box that assumes the shape of a particular object or animal is a
modern Limoges box. They are also known as Limoges whimsical boxes.
The original Limoges miniature figurine boxes were shaped as a noblewoman on her
chamber pot, a husband and wife lying together, love letters, monkey heads,
sphinx's, armadillos, dolphins, fishing boats, and singing man and woman.
More modern Limoges miniature figurine boxes are of Chihuahuas, Scottish
terriers, shoes, telephones, golf clubs. The shapes are endless.
